SEPTON™ J-series is a unique hydrogenated styrenic block copolymer with superior compression set, excellent buffering and vibration dampening capabilities as well as superb polymer processing that is particularly suitable for the design of extremely soft gel materials. Developed by leveraging Kuraray’s accumulated polymer design and synthesis technologies, the SEPTON™ J-series is an innovative, high-performance styrenic block copolymer. With a soft molding material that incorporates hydrogenated styrenic thermoplastic elastomers and extremely low-hardness gel, it is possible to create compound designs to obtain material that is innovative and has superior performance.
SEPTON™ J-series was designed to achieve the optimal balance between the aforementioned physical properties and processability in a more flexible, low-hardness compound. It retains superb mechanical performance, including low density, good compression set, and the low-temperature performance of standard SEPTON™ products. In addition, SEPTON™ J-series possesses better shock absorption and vibration damping performance than conventional compounds.
Because of these unique properties – as a soft, low-hardness gel and as a material that achieves distinctive and superior performance – applications for the SEPTON™ J-series can be found in high-value-added high-performance applications such as nursing care products, personal comfort goods, sporting goods, industrial components, and electrical and electronic components.
An important field of application for SEPTON™ J-series is the use in the processing of orthopedic gels. This unique hydrogenated styrenic block copolymer by Kuraray provide orthopedic gels with their necessary stability and super soft characteristics giving the products a natural skin-like feel. With its low specific gravity, this product can replace silicone in various applications.
